The White Rabbit Gallery

Tired after a long week of exploring Sydney’s awe-inspiring beaches? Ready to see what multi-cultural aspect of Sydney makes the city so famous? A visit to the White Rabbit Gallery in Chippendale is the perfect place to begin that journey. The collection is deemed often as the world’s largest and most significant collection of contemporary art from China. The building presents four floors of thought-provoking installations, frequented by tourists and locals alike. The exhibit exposes visitors to a different perspective of Chinese culture paired with contemporary thought. The entire contents of the gallery are rehung twice a year so visitors can visit to see different content from the collection.

Ritual Spirit (September 2017- January 2018) is the current exhibit. The exhibition promises the audience a journey to a world that is half-human and half-godly.
"The artists in Ritual Spirit do not seek to raise man into heaven. But all are trying, in one sense or another, to bring the gods down to earth."

After you spend a few hours wandering around the exhibit, I definitely recommend you check out the Teahouse on the ground floor of the building. Delicious homemade dumplings and an array of Chinese and Taiwanese style tea awaits!
This is personally one of my favourite spots in Sydney to get away from the hustle. It's a perfect location to meet up with an old friend or just in need of a break from uni/work.

The Gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am-5pm. Teahouse is open from 10am-4pm.

Address: 30 Balfour Street, Chippendale.
